The next generation of its award-winning L-band tactical satellite service, L-TAC, was unveiled today by Viasat, a leader in satellite communications worldwide. New features enable service on-demand, whenever and wherever customers need it. Using the inherent waveforms of tactical radios, encryption, and a secure terrestrial network, the L-TAC service connects radio users and command centres globally. It is provided via Viasat’s global L-band network.
In addition to automating the purchasing and provisioning process for the service, the recently developed L-TAC solution will provide an automated L-TAC channel assignment capability for more efficient resource allocation. With the help of this solution, end users or Viasat partners will be able to order or schedule L-TAC service through an online site. With this improved feature, people will be able to request and receive services whenever they need them in particular geographic regions when and where they need to operate. As a result, global government customers can order immediate service to areas of operation and can schedule their resources more efficiently.
The past, line-of-sight Ultra High Frequency (UHF), Very High Frequency (VHF), and UHF SATCOM systems have been the primary means of tactical communications for government and military users. In the event that these services are unavailable, there are no feasible alternatives. This alternative is offered by the Viasat L-TAC service, which is an addition to the current UHF, VHF, and UHF TACSAT radios. It enables customers to utilize the same equipment that has been certified for security, together with enhanced encryption, over L-band satellite connections using interoperable waveforms.
“With thousands of units deployed, our award-winning L-TAC technology is a reliable choice for tactical, beyond-line-of-sight communications. According to Susan Miller, President of Viasat Government, We understand that the goals and requirements of our government clients are constantly changing, so it is our duty to never stop innovating to meet those needs. This most recent L-TAC development is directly response to users’ feedback. It further enhances the capabilities available to our customers, while also delivering the flexibility, ease-of-use and implementation that today’s warfighters expect. “
