The newly developed Multi-Mission Orchestrator (MMO) solution from Viasat, a leader in satellite communications globally, is intended to optimize and coordinate space vehicle scheduling and secure data transport across constellation networks. Viasat announced this development today. This novel mission planning solution is intended to assist low Earth orbit (LEO) constellations, which are becoming more and more complicated and widespread. In order to support vehicle orchestration, planning, and mission execution successfully, LEO constellations need improved operational capabilities.
The MMO software from Viasat facilitates independent and cooperative missions by creating global, coordinated schedules for every satellite in the constellation. By reducing dependency on ground-based control, this cutting-edge solution enables satellites to function autonomously in challenging situations. MMO is a leading option for reliable satellite operations because it provides efficient data routing and mission coordination and is backed by Viasat’s strong communication infrastructure. The algorithms of the system can be deployed either on the ground or within satellites to enable smooth coordination throughout the fleet.
“More effective and sustainable decision-making is required to maximize these resources in light of the development and accessibility of new communication channels and services. “Viasat’s MMO solution offers a new, adaptable framework to handle the increasing complexity brought about by disparate systems,” said Michael Maughan, vice president of Viasat Government’s Space and Mission Systems. “Mission operations performance is improved and operations teams have greater autonomy thanks to automated orchestration, which helps eliminate much of the manual planning process.”
