Stellar Blu Solutions, a key partner of BAE Systems, has successfully completed qualification and obtained supplemental type certification on the multi-orbit Sidewinder aero terminal by utilizing the Ku-band electronically scanned antenna (ESA) from BAE Systems. With this achievement, the businesses may start producing in large quantities and installing the antennas needed for in-flight connectivity (IFC) on corporate jets, military aircraft, and other government and military platforms.
The ESA qualified its DO-160 airborne equipment in March. The antenna demonstrated its design maturity, high-quality product, and rich history by finishing certification from its original design and going straight into production. The Sidewinder terminal obtained its first supplemental type certification (STC) from the Federal Aviation Administration in June following the conclusion of flight testing, allowing airlines to start integrating the system into regional jets. The terminal will continue with global performance validation and testing with a second aircraft, including in polar areas.

It is a major milestone for both Stellar Blu and BAE Systems.”
Stellar Blu’s Sidewinder terminal’s transmit and receive antennas, as well as the control software, are designed and manufactured by BAE Systems. With integrator kits available for government usage, Sidewinder is a comprehensive aviation terminal that facilitates multi-orbit communication. Stellar Blu handled the terminal’s qualification and STC process.
