This memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed with ST Engineering, a global technology, defence, and engineering group, by SpeQtral, a leading quantum communications technology company, and Toshiba Digital Solutions Corporation (Toshiba), the Toshiba Group company of digital and quantum technology businesses. The purpose of the MOU signing was to formalize the strategic alliance and to strengthen the go-to-market strategy for quantum-secure communications solutions in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
The three parties agree to work together on a number of critical projects aimed at advancing quantum security solutions in important markets. This collaboration includes working together to build the market and business, developing customized solutions and products, and looking for possibilities in the public sector. In particular, the parties will collaborate to create and provide Quantum Secure Network (QSN) solutions tailored to vital industries such critical infrastructure, financial services institutions (FSI), healthcare, and government/defence.
As quantum computing advances, Dr. Lee Shiang Long of ST Engineering emphasized the necessity for quantum-secure solutions to safeguard data. The goal of the collaboration between Toshiba and SpeQtral is to improve cyberspace security and digital resilience.
Toshiba’s Hiroshi Tsukino stated that the advancement of quantum-secure communications in Southeast Asia and the establishment of new industry standards depend heavily on their 2022 collaboration with ST Engineering.
Lum Chune Yang, CEO of SpeQtral, expressed gratitude for the official partnership with ST Engineering, which will strengthen their partnership with Toshiba in providing the area with cutting-edge quantum-secure solutions.
The solutions include quantum-secure communication with hybrid Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), along with secure data storage, cloud services, and multiparty computation. Toshiba and SpeQtral’s strategic partnership, active since 2021, merges Toshiba’s fiber-based QKD with SpeQtral’s satellite QKD. This collaboration has led to significant milestones, including quantum-secure communications demonstrations in Singapore and the establishment of Southeast Asia’s first Quantum Networks EXperience Centre (QNEX), advancing global data security and communications.
