The Spanish supplier Sener has been given a contract by Raytheon, an RTX company, to design and manufacture the electro-mechanical control portion of the Patriot GEM-T missile. In support of the newly awarded GEM-T contract by the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) for a quantity of up to 1,000 missiles for a coalition of states, including Germany, the Netherlands, Romania, and Spain, Sener will directly contribute to missile production in Europe.
Pete Bata, vice president of Global Patriot at Raytheon, stated, “Sener will play a critical role in supporting our expansion of GEM-T missile production capacity in Europe.” “We are moving forward to augment this vital air defence missile inventory in support of NATO and our European Patriot allies working, with our wide-ranging and expanding network of suppliers in the area.”
The design and manufacture of missile actuation and control system technologies has been the area of expertise for Sener, a private engineering and technology organization. Sener and Raytheon’s engineering specialists will collaborate to co-develop the crucial GEM-T missile control section component, which will subsequently be manufactured locally at Sener’s Tres Cantos, Madrid, location.
