The Redstone Raytheon Missile Integration Facility in Raytheon, an RTX company, is set to expand by more than fifty percent with a $115 million, 26,000 square foot addition. Additionally, the expansion is expected to create 185 new jobs in the region, increasing RTX’s workforce in Alabama to over 2,200 employees.
Raytheon President Phil Jasper stated, “This significant investment in the Huntsville region will help us meet the growing needs of our military customers and service members. It will also ready our operations to accelerate delivery of our vital counter-hypersonic solution.”
The United States Missile Defence Agency, the United States Navy, and other defence clients use Raytheon’s Redstone plant as the last point of integration for numerous missile systems. The facility will house future military programs, such as the Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI), and currently manages the integration of nine Standard Missile family variants, including Standard Missile-3 and Standard Missile-6.
As the first interceptor in history, GPI will be able to neutralize hypersonic glide vehicles during their delicate glide phase of flight. By growing our Missile Integration Facility at Redstone, Raytheon is proving that it can and will continue to expand GPI.
In 2012, the Redstone Raytheon Missile Integration Facility opened for business. The construction of the expansion is expected to be finished in 2025.
