A major step forward in their collaboration to provide the US Defence and Intelligence Community with some of the most advanced and secure cloud, artificial intelligence, and analytics capabilities has been announced today by Palantir Technologies and Microsoft Corporation. Using Palantir’s AI Platform (AIP) and Azure OpenAI (AOAI) Service, this innovative integrated suite of technologies will enable critical national security missions to operationalize Microsoft’s best-in-class Large Language Models (LLMs) in Microsoft’s government and classified cloud environments.
Microsoft Azure Government and its Top Secret and Secret clouds will host Palantir’s products—Foundry, Gotham, Apollo, and AIP—as part of a joint venture between Palantir and Microsoft. In these safe settings, Palantir will also be a pioneer of Azure’s OpenAI Service. With government approval and certification still required, this partnership combines Palantir’s data and AI capabilities with Microsoft’s Azure cloud and language models to improve Defence and Intelligence operations.
According to Palantir CTO Shyam Sankar, combining Palantir and Microsoft technologies would revolutionize national security support, with Palantir AIP spearheading AI implementation in businesses. Being the first to employ Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service in a classified situation excited him.
The expanded Microsoft-Palantir cooperation, which combines Palantir’s insights with Microsoft’s cloud and AI technologies for national security, will accelerate the safe deployment of advanced AI for the US government, according to Deb Cupp, President of Microsoft Americas.
