Viasat Government Services has taken delivery of Ovzon’s first order for Ovzon Pegasus service on the brand-new Ovzon 3 satellite. This signifies the change from the current Ovzon SATCOM-as-a-Service, which is provided to the US Department of Defence (US DOD) through leased satellite capacity, to Ovzon 3, which is now used. The service was launched on August 1, 2024, and the order is for a period of twelve months. The order value is roughly equal to 6.2 million US dollars.
The previous eight-month contract, signed in December 2023, is replaced by this order, which is tailored to the requirements of the US DOD. In January 2024, the Ovzon 3 satellite was launched. On July 5, 2024, following the completion of successful in-orbit testing, the satellite went into commercial operation.
Ovzon considers the U.S. Department of Defence to be one of its most important and enduring clients. They were the first to order the Ovzon T7 mobile satellite terminal, the first to rely on Ovzon SATCOM-as-Service for their vital tasks, and the first to currently utilize the special powers of the Ovzon 3 satellite, which was the first in the business. We are honoured to provide customized applications for improved performance, mobility, and resilience to the US Department of Defence. Ovzon CEO Per Norén states, “We are confident Ovzon 3, which is replacing leased satellite networks, will play a critical role for the U.S. DOD and other key customers in the years to come.”
