The Fire-control On Orbit-support-to-the-war Fighter, or FOO Fighter, is a weapon that the Space Development Agency has granted Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing business, with a potential value of $414 million. Delivering a constellation of eight satellites with a ground system and carrying out mission operations, Millennium Space Systems is the end-to-end operational prime.
According to Jason Kim, CEO of Millennium Space Systems, “FOO Fighter may be the World War II term for Unidentified Flying Objects, but this is a no joke, crucial mission that will help protect our country and allies against advanced threats. Furthermore, as leaders in the field of developing the technology and intellectual property that will enable the FOO Fighter mission, we are contributing priceless insights.”
The U.S. government’s capacity to offer fire control in support of worldwide enhanced threat detection, warning, and precise tracking—including hypersonic missile systems—is accelerated by F2. It will integrate fire control-quality sensors into a prototype constellation to showcase enhanced missile defence capabilities.
“Using our shared sensing vehicle and core components, we were able to develop the correct solution at the right cost because to our in-depth knowledge and comprehension of this mission, according to Kim. Our understanding of the payload and its relevance to mission execution is based on the modelling and simulation exercises that underpin our mission engineering work.”
