Marshall was given a contract by SEA, a division of Cohort PLC, to manufacture composite torpedo launcher tubes in support of two significant worldwide naval vessel projects.
It’s another big victory for Marshall, as we use our experience to give our clients a vital capability. “Building on a decades-long relationship with SEA, this contract will see Marshall proudly continue to manufacture durable, composite launch tubes to deploy NATO standard torpedoes.” Marshall’s Colin Jones, Head of Sales for Advanced Composites.
The launcher tubes have an incredibly sturdy design and are produced at Marshall’s composites factory located in North Yorkshire. Their GRP structure, which is wound in filaments, offers a corrosion-resistant and lightweight solution that can endure the hostile environment in which they are deployed as well as the stresses encountered during firing.
A number of nations worldwide utilize SEA’s clever Torpedo Launcher Systems due to their versatility and ease of configuration for a wide variety of naval weapons currently in use. The system’s architecture satisfies the needs of ships with different sizes and structures and permits launcher tubes to be installed above decks or stored inside.
