A significant partnership between Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics was recently signed to produce solid rocket motors, which will strengthen and stabilize a crucial domestic supply chain.
In order to advance our 21st Century Security strategy for a stronger, more resilient defence industrial base that keeps our customers worldwide ahead of evolving threats, we must maintain a stable and diverse supply chain for solid rocket motors. According to Tim Cahill, president of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, “this agreement enables Lockheed Martin and General Dynamics to ramp production of in-demand solutions more quickly going forward.”
Firat Gezen, president of General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), stated, “We are proud to apply our expertise in missile subsystems to deliver new capabilities that will add resiliency to the domestic supply chain. GD-OTS and Lockheed Martin’s partnership demonstrates our common dedication to bolstering the defence industrial base and supplying vital capabilities to the warfighter.”
At the start in 2025, the General Dynamics facility in Camden, Arkansas will host the first phase of operations centered around the manufacturing of solid rocket motors for the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS). An approach to phased planning for the transfer to additional goods will come after this project.
In order to produce solid rockets that are dependable and reasonably priced, GD-OTS plans to grow its Camden operations by utilizing sophisticated manufacturing.
