The world-renowned provider of spacecraft and launch vehicle communication services, Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT), and Rocket Lab USA, a leader in launch services and space systems, have joined forces to create a new global ground station service for their operations and clients. This service will facilitate dependable and efficient communications for upcoming Neutron launches, more ambitious Electron launches, on-orbit operations, spacecraft deorbit, and return-to-Earth missions using Rocket Lab spacecraft.
Rocket Lab’s Electron rocket has delivered 191 satellites to space for diverse missions, and the company is now developing the Neutron rocket to expand its capabilities for satellite constellations, defence missions, and interplanetary exploration starting in mid-2025. Rocket Lab also supports NASA Moon missions and provides spacecraft operations for commercial clients like Varda Space Industries. To enhance its services, Rocket Lab has partnered with KSAT to co-engineer a new satellite communications service, ensuring optimal performance and support through KSAT’s expanded ground station network.
“Our enhanced satellite communications service simplifies missions for Electron and Neutron launches, letting satellite operators outsource operations and focus on their core missions,” said Richard French, vice president of business development and strategy at Rocket Lab. We’re thrilled to collaborate with KSAT to provide a dependable and expandable service.
“Partnering with Rocket Lab exemplifies our commitment to advancing ground network technology through strategic collaborations,” says Arthur Merlin, Director of Ground Network Products at KSAT. Through this collaboration, the advantages of both companies are utilised to provide dependable and smooth communications for our global clientele. We are thrilled to collaborate closely with Rocket Lab, a pioneer in cutting-edge launch technologies, to improve our service portfolio and advance space communication technology.
