Eutelsat Group has renewed its collaboration with InterSAT, a top satellite service provider in Africa, to aid InterSAT’s expansion in the Pan-African enterprise and retail markets.
InterSAT will expand its current portfolio, which currently comprises Ka-Band capacity on the EUTELSAT KONNECT satellite, with Ku-Band capacity over Central and Eastern Africa on Eutelsat’s EUTELSAT 70B satellite, as per the terms of the most recent multi-year strategic arrangement. EUTELSAT 70B, which is orbiting at 70.5° East, provides four high-performance fixed beams, a wide beam coverage, and a high level of on-board connectivity.
“We are delighted to be able to rely on Eutelsat capacity once again to support our growth ambitions in Africa,” said InterSAT CEO Hanif Kassam in a statement regarding the agreement. “Africa is home to some of the world’s most remote and underdeveloped regions which represent a challenging environment for building terrestrial communication networks. We are able to leverage satellite communication to provide dependable and affordable connection to remote and underdeveloped locations while guaranteeing a premium user experience for our clients by utilizing our teleport infrastructure and VSAT service capabilities.”
“We are honoured to be chosen by our longstanding partner, InterSAT, to accompany the further roll-out of its services in Africa,” said Ghassan Murat, RVP for Eutelsat in the AMEA region. “The expansion of VSAT services throughout Africa is evidence of both the technology’s potential to change the ICT landscape of the continent and connect more people and businesses than ever before, as well as the continued value of our potent geostationary in-orbit assets in providing compelling and dependable connectivity services to even the most remote locations.”
