The Swedish Armed Forces and other Gripen users worldwide can continue to develop the Gripen system thanks to the order from FMV, which is an extension of the current contract. The order covers updates to current systems as well as the operation and maintenance of test aircraft and complex equipment, including rigs and simulations, which will be utilized as Saab develops new future capabilities for the Gripen C/D and Gripen E.
“Gripen is built to withstand both present and potential threats with ongoing enhancements. Sophisticated simulations and rigs that are simple to use, inexpensive to maintain, and quick to adjust for new capabilities are necessary for further development. Lars Tossman, Head of Saab’s Aeronautics business area, states that this order guarantees Gripen will stay at the forefront for a very long time.”
The main locations for the work will be the Saab locations in Linköping, Gothenburg, Järfälla, and Arboga.
