The broadcast solution supplier MAINDATA’s SFN Boost platform has been officially verified by Eutelsat as interoperable, meaning that it satisfies the strict requirements of the DVB-SIS (Single Illumination Satellite) and works well with other vendor gear.
Eutelsat has been testing the SFN Boost since January 2024. The adapter’s ability to receive a primary DTH parent stream from Eutelsat’s head-end, including DVB-SIS signals from a Control Stream Generator (CSG) of a different manufacturer, has been confirmed by these extensive tests. Furthermore, the adaptor has demonstrated its capacity to produce a T2-MI signal, which is necessary for DVB-T2 transmitters.
A number of T2-MI analyzers and DVB-T2 modulators operating in both SFN and MFN modes were used during several months of intensive testing to verify the product’s dependability. The SFN Boost Rx adapter has demonstrated reliability and robustness by routinely meeting all performance standards.
TV Reception and Video Standardization Manager at Eutelsat Ralph Edeine stated, “DVB-SIS represents a significant accomplishment, providing an excellent and dependable backup for terrestrial TV networks. It has been essential for transmitting TV signals via satellite since 2023, especially for the Olympics in Paris in 2024. 70% of France’s population now has access to UHD services thanks to this technology, with the other 30% being served by Eutelsat’s FRANSAT DTH infrastructure, which minimizes costs for all parties involved.
