A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) allowing YahClick to utilize capacity on Eutelsat’s geostationary satellite, EUTELSAT KONNECT, was signed by Eutelsat Group and YahClick, the data solutions division of Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PJSC (Yahsat), the leading satellite solutions provider in the United Arab Emirates.
The partnership between the two top satellite providers is consistent with Yahsat’s endeavours to improve its services and propel expansion throughout its satellite broadband network in Africa, enabling it to offer better services and reach new markets both within and outside of the continent. as a component of the contract. With Eutelsat’s KONNECT capacity, Yahsat will have exclusive access to Ethiopia, one of the fastest-growing African markets.
EUTELSAT KONNECT is a high throughput satellite that has been in operation since November 2020. Its 65 spotbeams allow it to provide substantial resources for broadband services, with a capacity of 75 Gbps. The satellite’s full capacity was initially allocated to covering both Europe and Africa, however it is currently being gradually moved to give exclusive coverage of Africa.
Sulaiman Al Ali, Chief Commercial Officer of Yahsat, commented on the MOU, saying: “We are thrilled to work with Eutelsat and have access to cutting-edge orbital assets, to support our satellite network. Through this agreement, we will be able to expand the markets for our “YahClick” broadband services, which cater to both consumer and business needs, and further improve our portfolio. Yahsat was a pioneer in helping Eutelsat launch its African broadband service, and we are delighted to be working together once more to make sure our existing and future customers benefit from the highest level of service and availability.”
“We are honoured to further deepen our ties with our longstanding partner, Yahsat,” said Ghassan Murat, RVP for Eutelsat in the AMEA region. In addition to the demand we are witnessing as we gradually transfer EUTELSAT KONNECT capacity to Africa, Yahsat’s strong presence in Africa and the Middle East through the successful deployment of its YahClick satellite broadband service also highlights the market’s buoyant demand for reliable broadband services and the relevance of satellite in connecting users, even in the most remote locations.
