A new multi-year deal has been signed by Eutelsat Group and Cable Color LLC of Honduras, extending the capacity for video broadcast services on Eutelsat’s EUTELSAT 117 West A satellite over Central America.
Eutelsat has been a long-standing customer of Cable Color, a well-known cable operator in the area, and this new contract demonstrates its sustained faith in the calliber of broadcast services offered.
The premier TV neighbourhood in Latin America is located in 117° West, where major networks and content providers are distributed throughout the region. Currently, almost 110 million TV homes receive 300 TV channels, 50 of which are in HD. Over 1900 cable head-ends are located in Latin America and the Caribbean, contributing to the significant cable head-end penetration. Along with being a booming free-to-air TV neighbourhood, 117° West is home to 100 TV stations that are clearly transmitted, including major regional public and commercial broadcasters.
