For the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI), the country’s new homeland missile defence capability, Lockheed Martin was chosen by the Missile Defence Agency. As the NGI prime contractor for the MDA, Lockheed Martin will supply the most advanced, dependable, and cutting-edge interceptor in Ground-based Midcourse Defence (GMD) system history. The purpose of the multiple-kill vehicle interceptor is to defend the country from rogue states’ long-range ballistic missile threats.
“To enhance the security of our country, Lockheed Martin is pleased to collaborate with the MDA on a ground-breaking interceptor. At Lockheed Martin, we are dedicated to providing dependable interceptors that can quickly adapt to changing threats and seamlessly interface with the GMD system,” stated Sarah Hiza, vice president and general manager of Strategic and Missile Defence. “We stand ready to support our customer for decades to come with a solution capable of protecting the nation from current and future threats.”
Ensuring Security Through Advanced Interceptor Solutions
Lockheed Martin is committed to offering MDA an interceptor solution that is mature, capable, dependable, and reasonably priced. The program proceeds toward flight testing, integration with the larger weapon system, and the Critical Design Review. With the use of digital tools, procedures, and technologies, Lockheed Martin’s NGI program is able to meet the manufacturing needs of its clients both now and in the future. Delivering the first NGI ahead of the warfighter’s need is Lockheed Martin’s pledge.
Fostering Collaborative Missile Defence Initiatives
Lockheed Martin is dedicated to keeping a cordial and open relationship with the MDA and possesses a comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end missile defence mission. NGI is capitalizing on its investments in kill vehicle technology, its knowledge in combat-proven exo-atmospheric threat intercepts, and its nearly seven decades of experience in supplying the country with strategic missile systems. The business invented the hit-to-kill intercept technologies that are still in use by our clients. Modern, state-of-the-art Lockheed Martin facilities, currently under construction in Courtland, Alabama, and just opened in Huntsville, Alabama, were designed for the homeland Cooperation for Missile Defence’s Future.
