In order to provide Internet of Things (IoT) devices with a telecommunications service, Apogeo Space, a company dedicated to building Italy’s first private satellite constellation, announced that it has reached an agreement with INNOSPACE, a Korean company, to purchase multi-unit launches, beginning in the second half of 2025.
The arrangement covers the supervision of three Low Earth Orbit (LEO) launches and satellite releases by Apogeo Space, which will create Italy’s first private constellation devoted to the Internet of Things (IoT). The launches and satellite releases will take place between 2025 and 2027.
An significant step toward the Italian future of a global connection service that will provide constant and dependable coverage for IoT globally is represented by the agreement between Apogeo Space and INNOSPACE.
The agreement of Apogeo Space with D-Orbit in Italy, it is now able to secure qualified access to space, pursuing its motto “IoT everywhere, for everyone” and putting a structured business plan in place for positioning in the initial orbits required to guarantee continuous and worldwide connectivity. The CEO and co-founder of Apogeo Space, Guido Parissenti, says, “We are thrilled to collaborate with INNOSPACE, a very creative firm. This arrangement is crucial because it ensures that we will add more partners, which will enable us to finish building our IoT constellation of microsatellites by 2027.”
“We are thrilled to embark on the three space missions necessary to deploy the Internet of Things picosatellite constellation, and we are honoured to announce this multi-launch agreement with Apogeo Space.” Apogeo Space’s goal of being a forward-thinking space partner is supported by INNOSPACE. Soojong Kim, the CEO and founder of INNOSPACE, stated, “Our small satellite launch vehicle, HANBIT, will provide dependable launches to assist in building the constellation with precision deployment to orbits.”
Apogeo Space’s project aims for 3 to 4 launches annually, deploying 9 small satellites each time, to complete its constellation by 2027 with 96 active pico-satellites. The first 9 test satellites were launched in November 2023 via SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and D-Orbit’s OTV. Italy’s telecommunications constellation will be bolstered by this initiative, offering advanced services across various sectors from agri-tech to infrastructure monitoring.
