Al Jazeera Media Network has reiterated its commitment to Eutelsat for broadcast services throughout the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe, according to a statement released by Eutelsat Group.
Al Jazeera’s extensive line-up of SD and HD news and events channels will continue to be broadcast at three of Eutelsat’s top video neighbourhoods thanks to this new multi-year, multi-satellite agreement: For viewers in the Middle East and North Africa, use 7/8° West; for viewers in Europe, use EUTELSAT HOTBIRD; and for viewers in Central and Eastern Europe, use EUTELSAT 16° East.
A combination of the largest exclusive reach, 7/8° West is the top broadcast neighbourhood in the Middle East and North Africa, reaching 95% of homes in the region. With 130 million homes within its reach, the EUTELSAT HOTBIRD location at 13° East is the premier DTH, Cable, IP, and DTT neighbourhood in Europe.
“We are honored that Al Jazeera Media Network, one of the largest international news networks in the world, is continuing to rely on Eutelsat to deliver its acclaimed program offer,” said Laurence Delpy, President of Eutelsat’s Video Business Unit. With this new deal, millions of homes in Europe and the Middle East and North Africa will be able to keep enjoying their premium programming. It also emphasizes how important satellite technology is for reaching large audiences over great distances.
“With its unparalleled coverage and audience reach the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe, we are delighted to continue to rely on Eutelsat,” said Ahmed Marzouq AlFahad, Executive Director of Technology and Network Operations at Al Jazeera Media Network.
