The Brazilian Navy and EDGE Group, two of the top defence and advanced technology companies in the world, have inked a strategic collaboration agreement to finish developing the Navy’s National Anti-Ship Missile (MANSUP) by the end of 2025.
The MANSUP will be delivered in time for integration on the Navy’s new Tamandaré class of stealth frigates thanks to a contract that calls for the provision of the required resources by SIATT, Brazil’s premier smart weapons specialist, and EDGE Group. The agreement also gives EDGE Group permission to use MANSUP technology and technical data for creating MANSUP-ER (extended range).
Chief Financial Officer of EDGE Group Rodrigo Torres stated: “This program promises benefits beyond missile development and strengthens the defence sectors of Brazil and the UAE in collaboration with SIATT.” They will stimulate growth throughout the whole industrial base and economy by resulting in the construction of new factories and generating a large number of job opportunities. We are eager to go on with our partnership with the Brazilian and United Arab Emirates Navies as we broaden our family of missile systems and promote change in the defence sector.
Attendees at the signing included Admiral Edgar Luiz Siqueira Barbosa, Director General of Naval Material for the Brazilian Navy, Admiral Emerson Gaio Roberto, Commander of the Naval Air Force, and Admiral Carlos Fernandes. Henrique de Lima Zampieri, Director of Naval Weapons Systems; Admiral Marcelo da Silva Gomes, Director of Navy Programme Management and Director of Navy Communications and Information Technology; Admiral Sergio Blanco Ozório, Director of Navy Aeronautics and Captain Cleiton Souza da Silva, Assistant to the Naval Material Directory.
