Naval Group has selected Exail, a leader in naval navigation worldwide, to improve the navigation capabilities of the French Navy’s Ocean Patrol Vessels (OPVs). This is part of the DGA’s Ocean Patrol Vessel program, which aims to replace the high seas patrol vessels stationed in Brest and Toulon as well as the public service patrol vessels stationed in Cherbourg. As part of this partnership, Exail will provide a full range of navigation hardware, such as Netans Data Distribution Units (DDU) and Phins Inertial Navigation Systems (INS).
The Phins INS will improve the operating capabilities of the OPVs by providing highly precise navigation data that is resilient to signal interruptions. This will improve situational awareness and navigational accuracy in a variety of marine circumstances. Phins ensures longevity by utilizing Exail’s Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) technology. Phins guarantees durability while minimizing maintenance needs, providing a reliable solution for coastal surveillance missions. Serving as the cornerstone of the navigation system, the Netans system will ensure the OPVs receive consistent, reliable, and precise navigation data, while adhering to safety and security standards and addressing potential cybersecurity risks.
We are privileged to have been chosen by Naval Group. Our long-standing collaboration is strengthened by this deal, according to Exail’s Regional Sales Manager Pierre-Louis Roudaut. “Through this collaboration, we are fulfilling our commitment to simplify the lives of sailors by offering a thoughtfully designed system that precisely addresses their needs for reliability and performance.”
