The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted Globalstar’s request to operate up to 26 replacement satellites and extend the term of its senior HIBLEO-4 authorization by an additional 15 years. Globalstar is a provider of next-generation mobile satellite and communications services. This announcement was made today.
After more than 20 years of offering mobile satellite services all over the world, Globalstar is now allowed to invest in, run, and develop new satellite and communications technologies thanks to the Commission’s reauthorization. Reaffirming its earlier rulings about Globalstar’s exclusive operations in its licensed portion of the Big LEO Band is a significant development.
“This modification grant will enable Globalstar to continue to provide a variety of essential voice and data communications services to consumers,” the Commission said in its order.
