Viasat, a leader in satellite communications globally, and Azul, the largest airline in Brazil in terms of departures and cities served, today announced that seven of Azul’s new Airbus A330-900neo fleet will be outfitted with Viasat’s reliable Ka-band in-flight connectivity solution. The first of these aircraft is expected to go into service early in 2019.
Passengers flying on the new Airbus A330-900neos linefit will have access to onboard internet from gate to gate, in keeping with the in-flight Wi-Fi available on Azul’s other aircraft types outfitted with Viasat’s solution. Clients will be able to purchase bundles for chatting, web surfing, and music and video streaming.
Jason Ward, the Chief People and consumer Officer of Azul, emphasized that the airline’s superior in-flight connectivity is a crucial differentiator in Brazil, satisfying consumer demands for remaining connected and receiving real-time sports updates. He is excited to work with Viasat to further improve this experience.
Don Buchman, VP and GM of Viasat’s Commercial Aviation division, stated, “After several successful years of serving Azul passengers in Brazil, we are excited to work with Azul to expand our connectivity onboard even more aircraft.” “Even as the demand for data grows and passenger expectations accelerate rapidly, Viasat’s mission is to continue delivering high quality and consistent in-flight Wi-Fi, so that passengers can enjoy online activities while in the air as they do on the ground.”
