The NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) has awarded a $478 million contract to Raytheon for the supply of additional GEM-T missiles to Germany. This arrangement helps Ukraine restock Patriot missiles that Germany gave. Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway have all committed to contribute to the procurement’s financing, demonstrating their unwavering support for Ukraine.
“Our customers are already realizing the benefits of bundled, multi-national procurement of Patriot missiles through NSPA, including the economies that offer greater affordability and the pre-negotiated contracting framework that shortens the acquisition timeline,” stated Tom Laliberty, president of Raytheon’s Land and Air Defence Systems. Combat-proven Patriot air and missile defence system’s main effector, GEM-T, is the Patriot Advanced Capability 2 (PAC-2) missile interceptor upgraded for stopping tactical ballistic missiles. Patriot is the go-to defensive system for eight European countries as well as Ukraine against enemy drones and aircraft, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles.
