Iran will soon launch two satellites created by the private sector, according to the head of the country’s space agency. The Kowsar and Hodhod satellite launches, according to Hassan Salarieh, will signal further advancements in Iran’s civil space program on Wednesday. According to him, there will be a lot more Iranian satellite launches this year, especially those produced by the private sector.
“The Kowsar satellite is a sensing satellite, and the Iranian Space Agency has finalized a contract to purchase its imagery,” he stated. “This initiative is a significant step in supporting the private sector and fostering a market for its space products.”
Iran successfully launched two research payloads and its own Mahda research satellite earlier this year utilizing the domestically produced Simorgh (Phoenix) satellite launch vehicle (SLV).
The 32-kilogram (kg) Mahda is responsible for satellite subsystem testing, evaluating the performance and dependability of novel designs and domestic technologies in orbit, and examining the payload deployment capabilities of the Simorgh SLV. The Qaem-100 SLV carried the research satellite, which was developed by the ISA, into orbit. The IRGC Aerospace Force developed the three-stage, solid-fuel SLV known as Qaem-100.
