A new $15 million AFWERX contract named “Model One,” which will connect models and simulations across the Air Force to address the most critical issues of “internetized” warfare, was granted to Istari Digital today, according to the company.
“Industries, from medical devices to monohull racing boats, are rapidly accelerating due to digital transformation,” stated Dr. Will Roper, the founder, president, and CEO of Istari Digital. However, the difficulties in managing conflicting intellectual property and sensitive information have made it hard for Defence keep up with them. This most recent deal is proof of our dedication to developing ground-breaking data-meshing technologies and our clients’ trust in using them. Our plug-and-play digital thread platform unlocks the digital speed of all invention by enabling safe, real-time digital collaboration across challenging-to-integrate data types.
An additional Air Force program called Flyer Øne, which pays homage to the Wright Brothers, is already using Istari Digital’s technology to construct the first digitally certified airplane ever. To date, no airplane has ever been digitally certified for real-world flying, despite being widespread in top digital industries such as Formula 1. However, the U.S. military requires significantly more from digital systems than just design and certification. Decision-making across domains in the battlefield is now accelerated by the rapid advancement of data and technologies. The goal of the US military is to control and imitate these future interwoven conflicts.
The use of digital twins is restricted by the difficulty of combining several models and simulations, as former Google CEO Eric Schmidt pointed out. He views the Model Øne from Istari Digital as a ground-breaking chance to develop future enterprises by building a virtual military. The SBIR/STTR process is being streamlined by the Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX in order to expedite small company proposals, increase applicant prospects, and lower administrative burden. In 2018, the Air Force increased its financing for innovation under the Open Topic SBIR/STTR program. Istari Digital is now poised to create cutting-edge technologies to bolster the national security of the United States.
