The Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite data and analytics solutions firm Synspective has successfully raised a Series C fundraising round of 7 billion yen. Leading the most recent investment round were JAFCO Group’s and Mizuho Capital’s Investment Limited Partnerships, as well as Japan Growth Capital Investment Corporation, which is overseen by Nomura SPARX Investment, Inc. We have allotted 28.1 billion yen for third-party finance since our founding, including 8.3 billion yen for loan contracts.
High-frequency, high-resolution SAR satellites are developed and operated by Synspective, which offers solution services and data analytics. We launched StriX-3, our fourth SAR satellite, on March 13, 2024, and it successfully entered its intended orbit and began to expand its wings. Our goal is to accomplish a constellation of 30 SAR satellites by the late 2020s, enabling us to observe changes anywhere on Earth.
Mr. Shinji Naito, Representative Director, Chairman, and Co-CEO of Nomura SPARX Investment, anticipates that starting in 2022, there will be a growing need for Synspective’s data solutions in the areas of security, disaster prevention, and social infrastructure, resulting in global expansion for the business.
“Japanese companies can show their global strength in the space industry,” said Mr. Kunio Handa, President and Representative Director of Mizuho Capital. Satellite data in particular is becoming more and more important for disaster preparedness and security.
Mr. Kazumasa Watanabe, aSTART CEO and representative director
“The demand for SAR satellite data is rising globally, but there is currently a limited supply, and experts predict that this industry will expand rapidly. Synspective is a distinct technology company offering cutting-edge solutions for data analysis. We have been investing in the company from its founding and will keep helping it on its mission to transform the world.”
