The business unit of General Dynamics, Land Systems (GDLS), in conjunction with Marshall Canada, its joint venture partner, has been granted a contract to supply the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) with a new fleet of light and heavy logistics vehicles.
In conjunction with related equipment like armoured protection kits, modules, containers, and trailers, GDLS and Marshall Canada will deliver over 1,000 light trucks and roughly 500 heavy trucks.
There are two contracts being granted for the Logistics Vehicle Modernization (LVM) project: one for the acquisition of vehicles, valued at $1.5 billion CAD ($1.1 billion USD), and another for in-service support, valued at up to $1.08 billion CAD ($790 million USD) over a 25-year period. Taxes are included in both values. Integration and support services will be handled by General Dynamics Land Systems during the life of the LVM project and is joined by a team that includes Marshall Canada, Mercedes‐Benz (Daimler Trucks), Soframe, and Manac.
According to General Dynamics Land Systems President Dave Paddock, “our power team is designed to deliver unique and reliable capability. We collaborate with our global customers and industry to bring the most capable solutions to soldiers. Our reputation is built on our creative engineering, broad production and integration experience, and unmatched customer service. We are eager to provide the Canadian Army with the LVM capacity.”
