Marble Imaging is about to take the first step in revolutionizing the Earth Observation (EO) market, with the help of strategic partner Reflex Aerospace.
Marble Imaging wants to be the top European Earth observation (EO) firm, taking daily, very-high resolution (VHR) pictures of the entire world with a network of up to 200 tiny satellites. They have teamed up with Reflex Aerospace, a German satellite maker, to accomplish this aim. Reflex Aerospace is among the select few NewSpace enterprises that can provide satellite platforms that exhibit superior stability and pointing accuracy compared to comparable systems, hence permitting the acquisition of extremely high-resolution satellite imagery.
Robert Hook, CEO of Marble Imaging, states that “human activities impacting Earth are causing significant challenges for our planet.” “Knowing these implications is essential for a sustainable future. To monitor these changes and create solutions, we need to use a big data approach. However, there is currently a deficiency in the supply of the extremely high-resolution photographs required for these kinds of applications.
The requirements of people and applications in the actual world will be met by the produced EO data, analytics, and insights. These comprise both public and private institutions that work on issues like food security, climate change adaptation, environmental monitoring, and humanitarian relief.
According to Dr. Daniel Kliche, SVP Innovations Centre at IABG, “the ability to apply machine learning methods directly at the sensor and the edge in a robust and safe way is key to handling big data and enabling autonomous functions in the challenging and complex space environment.”
“At Reflex, we believe that the future of our planet depends on lightning-fast innovation in space, which is what drew us to Marble Imaging’s mission,” says Walter Ballheimer, CEO of Reflex, in a statement celebrating the announcement. By working together, we will use cutting-edge technology on specially designed satellites to produce extremely high-resolution photos that facilitate well-informed decision-making, putting us in the forefront of EO platform producers.
State Minister for Digital Affairs Dr. Fabian Mehring made the following statement: “I congratulate the team at Reflex Aerospace for its impressive success. It fills me with pride that Bavaria continues to produce the builders of progress. Once again, our Free State proves to be Europe’s hub for advanced technology and the perfect place for emerging technologies to flourish, providing a rich environment for the future world leaders.”
“We congratulate Marble Imaging and Reflex on this significant step,” said Prof. Dr. Rudolf F. Schwarz, CEO of IABG. We are honoured to have contributed our knowledge and solutions for reliable and secure AI to the successful completion of the significant first mission.
