General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) has selected Elbit Systems to provide Iron Fist Active Protection Systems (APS) for the modernization of the U.S. Army’s Bradley M2A4E1 Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs). The deal is valued at roughly $37 million. The work under the contract will be completed in 24 months.
The Iron Fist APS is a cutting-edge Hard Kill system designed to improve armoured vehicles’ ability to defend themselves against contemporary military threats. It is the Second-Generation APS used by the Israel Defence Force, and it is distinguished by its excellent performance and minimal volume, weight, and power needs. The system shields armoured platforms from a broad range of anti-armour threats, including loitering, anti-tank guided missiles (ATGM), anti-tank rockets (ATR), unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and Loitering threats, in both open terrain and complex urban environments.
