The Swedish company Handheld Group, which produces durable mobile computers, has announced that it has been awarded a contract to supply a significant quantity of operator computers for nano drones.
The client is a US-based multinational defence company that supplies nano drones to the military for use in combat reconnaissance. The deal, which is a follow-up to the development order that was revealed in July 2023, is valued at SEK 69 million with room for increase once delivery of extra quantities start. Delivery is scheduled for 2025 and 2026.
The 7-inch ultra-rugged Android tablet serves as the foundation for Handheld’s bespoke control computer. Modern warfare has seen a paradigm shift in the use of drone technology, which has completely changed how military operations are carried out.
“We are delighted to announce that a new follow-up order has been generated as a result of our joint project with MilDef. This accomplishment demonstrates our capacity to provide rugged PCs that properly satisfy client needs. We are pleased that our abilities are contributing to your ongoing success,” says Handheld Group’s Product Manager, Erik Hansdotter.
